Age of the home: 1947 rambler
Type of remodel: Total renovation and expansion (from 1,500 square feet to 3,000)
Remodeling timeline: Nine months
Remodeling budget: $300,000
Before: The home was stuck in the ‘50s and in serious need of updates.
Challenges: The foundation was cracked on the north side of the home, causing a three-inch height difference. The solution? Raise the home. The existing footprint also limited the expansion, resulting in a second floor addition supported by a new three-season porch.
Unique elements: Contemporary design by Minneapolis’s own Billy Beson, handmade Italian light fixtures by Masiero and Terzani, an expansive center island with two dishwashers and a sink, and a glittering backsplash covering the entire east wall of a gorgeous kosher kitchen
