When a young professional couple moved out of their Lake Calhoun condo and into a 41-year-old ranch-style home in Edina, complete with a big dog-friendly yard for their golden retriever, they knew the outdated kitchen would have to go. Fiddlehead Design Group and Betty Ravnik or Ravnik & Co. in Alexandria were hired to work with the couple. After lengthy discussion, walls were removed in the main living area to create an open floor plan perfect for entertaining. A mudroom (with laundry), spacious powder room, and luxurious master bath were also incorporated into the new layout. With the help of professional designers, this stylish couple infused their fun and outgoing personalities and impeccably good style—aptly described as “casually modern with refined traditional influences”—onto a blank slate, truly making this house their own.
