This traditional two-story traditional home, built in 1994, was remodeled inside and out. The homeowners worked in collaboration with Linda Engler and Jenn Taft of Engler Studio Interior Design to revamp their beloved home. Architecturally, a new wider base and casing was installed to match the height and volume of the rooms, while design-wise, an edgy metal-and-stone fireplace was added. The kitchen received a distinctive twist with a sophisticated kitchen table—tapered table legs were capped with polished nickel ferrules (aka “heels”), one wall of cabinetry in a cerused oak finish, hand-forged cabinet hardware, and a generous island topped with Bianca Perla quartzite. A marble mosaic wall adds geometry, organic subtlety, and pizzazz to the kitchen and adjacent spaces. A yellow, white, and gray watercolor-esque textile frames phenomenal marsh views. Artwork—and the engaging inhabitants of the home—adds just the right mix of personality.
