Many, if not most, landscape installations require some type of retaining. Whether it’s a single row of retaining or a 20-foot wall to hold your house in place, there are so many options and materials to choose from. So, let’s talk about the three most common types of stone retaining walls we install on a daily basis. They all happen to be gorgeous natural stones!
From a natural stone standpoint, BOULDER WALLS are typically the most cost effective and one of the best to use for structural retaining. They come in varying shapes, sizes, and colors, ranging from shades of blue, yellow, and cream.
The second most common wall material we use is LIMESTONE. This stone can be found with little variations, from mostly yellow to a multicolored stone containing purples, pinks, and grays. It really is a beautiful stone that can blend in with many different styles of architecture.
Lastly, GRANITE WALLS are stunning, and are very rich addition to any yard. Granite cubes offer a very clean look with squared off corners and ranges of color in palettes of gunmetal, chestnut, cream, copper, and silver.
Retaining walls are a very important part of landscaping. When you are interviewing landscape companies, be sure that they are a reputable business and understand what it takes to build a solid retaining wall. They take a lot of planning and an experienced professional to install a safe, quality-built wall. We’ve been building them for 50 years!
