When this St. Paul Park repeat client approached Brynn Alden Interior Design with a never-done-before idea, owner Kelli Mickelson didn’t hesitate to take it on. The client is a long-time dog foster, often caring for multiple dogs at once, in addition to four of her own. The inspiration was a dedicated place to bathe dogs and create a space for multiple kennels.
The layout of the existing mechanical room was altered to accommodate a washroom and kennel room. During the design process, a secondary area for laundering soiled kennel blankets and dog bedding was also added. Also a part of this particular project was the adjacent main-floor bathroom. The tub insert was replaced with a gorgeous walk-in shower featuring slate stacked stone.
“My favorite part is the pullout steps and gorgeous blue tile,” says Kelli Mickelson, owner of Brynn Alden. “It was a great project to work on, as we had never done anything like it. The fact that we were able to take an unused space and transform it into such a functional space that checked off all the client’s wish list items is most gratifying.”
