Sara Dahmen

As a coppersmith, Sara Dahmen has one foot in the now and one in the past, but her journey to becoming an artisan maker did not begin in any traditional sense. In fact, as a historic fiction novelist, she was researching for a book and discovered forgotten cookware. She was taken aback by the history and process of the art form, and her quest to craft began. Soon after, she secured an apprenticeship to learn her new trade.

Today, Dahmen is one of the only female coppersmiths specializing in cookware in the United States, and it’s her mission to not only make cookware but also lead a female resurgence in the smithing arts. Her House Copper & Cookware goods are handmade with the same grit and determination as they have been for centuries—reminding us of the true value of how we prepare our food.
