When husband-and-wife Aaron and Tia Scott began the home decor-focused shop Fox Run Goods in 2019, their mobile marketplace—a 240-square-foot ex-military truck—had enough room to display 13 Minnesota makers’ works. Now with a brick-and-mortar location at the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, they can showcase 25 local makers and have more than enough space to host socially distanced events and artist-led classes. Shoppers can peruse rotating goods such as ceramics from 8th Avenue Market, hand-painted signs from ASpire, and wooden side tables and wall hangings by Artifacts of Joy. To make the experience even more unique, each artist has their own niche. (If an artist wants to sell a product that overlaps with someone else’s, the Scotts make sure all artists involved are OK with the situation.) “People often say, ‘Oh, you’re a really cute gift store,’” Tia says. “I want them to be like, ‘This is a store I can come and find something for myself to enjoy’ rather than needing someone’s permission to buy a gift.” Check Fox Run’s social media to stay up to date on its store hours and periodic pop-ups.
