Because of Starbucks’ pledge to go (single-use) strawless by 2020, and Seattle’s ban on straws shortly preceding it, the issue of plastic straws has been in the news lately. Many of the campaigns ask individuals to contribute less plastic waste to the environment, and thousands of people have been getting on board. Some participate by just saying no to straws altogether, but others less willing to give up their trusty sipping tools are switching to reusable straws instead.
My iced coffee regularly includes a straw; and if you’re like me, you’re probably not quite ready to part ways with sipping on your habitual grande iced hazelnut mocha coconut milk maccchiato. There are several different options for reusable straws, however, whether you’re thinking practically or aesthetically. Find the reusable straw of your preference below.
Klean Kanteen Steel Straws

The most practical on the list, these Klean Kanteen Steel Straws from Target have a silicone flex tip on the top of each straw, so you don’t have to tip your cup when drinking from your Klean Kanteen or other cup of your choice. Although the set of four is not microwave safe, they are dishwasher safe and include a cleaning brush if you opt to hand wash them.
Copper Drinking Straws
Reusable straws aren’t only for iced coffee and iced tea. Get these copper straws for your Moscow Mules if you don’t have the proper copper mugs.
Bamboo Straws
For a more natural straw, both aesthetically and in the ingredient list, Bambu’s reusable bamboo straws are biodegradable and organic, so even if you do lose one in your set, you won’t be doing the environment any harm.
Glass Straws
My personal favorite: glass straws. These beautiful alternatives from Simply Straws are microwave and dishwasher friendly, and include a brush for hand-washing as well. Six-packs come in several color combinations, so you can choose whatever your heart desires.
