OA Design + Build + Architecture
Year Built: 1950
Type of Remodel: Whole home
Having weathered numerous remodels that resulted in many code infractions, this 1950 rambler needed attention. The house went from being dark and disconnected to becoming an illuminated, hyper-functional, and family-friendly home. The original kitchen, for example, was tucked away in the corner, so OA reshaped the hub of the home, added windows, and redesigned the cabinetry to create a warm, yet bright space. The dining room was equally as isolated as the kitchen, but after opening up the adjacent wall between them, the two rooms now flow seamlessly into the other. The goal was creating a clean, contemporary aesthetic, but the new space also has transformed the dynamics surrounding cooking, eating, and spending time together as a family.
