Borrowing influences from both Japanese and Scandinavian design, the home showcases clean lines and simplistic features while incorporating natural elements and textures. Shou sugi ban siding, stone accent walls, organic light fixtures, and pattern tiles contribute to a warm, inviting feel. Light wood tones throughout the home, large walls of windows, and copious green plants round out the design. The open office and great room spaces include a two-sided fireplace to the outdoors, more windows, and a sleek white oak slat wall, which creates privacy from the office without closing off the space entirely. While working with William H. Madden of Madden Architects, all these unique elements culminate in an intimate portrayal of the homeowners’ collective memories.
