Since 1969, Kootenia Homes has been building dream homes for clients in the east metro area. Owner David Frosch began with Kootenia as a drafter in the 1980s, giving him the skills and vision necessary to execute the demands of full custom design and build. By the 1990s, he took over the company and later welcomed a second generation of the Frosch family to the team. With his son Steven Frosch serving as Vice President of Construction Management, this family works together on both ends of the firm to create new builds for homeowners.

One of Kootenia’s recent projects, this 4,200-square-foot new build dubbed “Minnesota Modern,” is a lakeside paradise. The most striking feature of the home, a custom 30-foot wall of Andersen windows, perfectly satisfies the homeowner’s non-negotiable ask—to capture the views of Bailey Lake. Through the use of large windows throughout the open design, this two-bed, three-bath home seamlessly melds with the outdoors and provides unique views from every room. Inside, the interior design showcases a modern look with a cozy feel. Natural walnut cabinetry, custom metal railings, vaulted ceilings, and a fully tiled bathroom all lend to the clean, yet natural aesthetic. Outside, the home boasts a modern exterior that makes use of a variety of materials and colors—all under a mixture of flat and sloped metal roofs.
