Nestled in the heart of Minneapolis, this 1913 Spanish Colonial underwent a major transformation by OA Design+Build+Architecture to meet the evolving needs of a growing family. Since the home only had three bedrooms and one bathroom to start, its reimagination was largely driven by a need for more space.
By adding versatile spaces and improving traffic flow, the team effectively doubled the size of the house. Much of the home’s design and layout centers on a single tree, which just so happens to be the tallest in Minneapolis. A sunroom and connected deck frame views of the tree to create a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. On the lower level, key features include a guest suite, wine room, and music room. Meanwhile, the main floor boasts a hyperefficient kitchen that connects to both the dining room and breakfast bar, enhancing the home’s flow and functionality.
From the outside, the home exudes a warm contemporary feel with striking lines and rich color. The exterior showcases a striking combination of dark blue and light mocha siding, complemented by bold orange accents and glowing wood tones. With a focus on sustainability, the home now acts as a model of energy efficiency and luxury.
