Rolling hills, dark wood beams, and stone elements lend a sense of chic style and contemporary grandeur to this picturesque gathering place

A lofty cathedral ceiling with dark wood beams and white shiplap lends a sense of contemporary grandeur to this traditional cottage-inspired Lake Elmo home. Views of the hills can be enjoyed from the spacious great room, which showcases generous windows, a natural stone fireplace, and custom built-ins.

See for yourself: The master bedroom in this chic Lake Elmo home is a stunner. Tiered ceilings and floating dark wood beams will catch your eye and hold your gaze, while a sliding barn door adds a farmhouse touch to the suite and leads to two separate walk-in closets off the luxurious master bath—made complete with ceramic tiles, a soaking tub, and peaceful rain shower.

“It’s not overdone,” says TJB Homes owner Tom Budzynski about the upscale five-bedroom, five-bathroom, 4,700-square-foot home. “It’s done well.”

Situated on the edge of the scenic Royal Golf Club’s championship course, the home features a three-car garage and a paver courtyard leading up to the front door.

And that it is, because on the lower level, you’ll find a space designed to entertain with two additional bedrooms, an exercise space, billiards room, sauna, and more. A spacious dining area leads out to an outdoor patio, while a stone fireplace, built-in cabinets, and bank of bar-inspired seating creates an inviting family room setting. Nearby, a full-size wet bar sits adjacent to a glassed-in wine cellar that mimics the stone fireplace found on the main level.

The lower level features a full-size wet bar and glassed-in wine cellar built into a stone entryway—mimicking the fireplace found upstairs—with brick and stone accents to create a soft, rustic feel.

That main-floor fireplace, made of natural stone and surrounded by white built-ins and lovely oak flooring, steals the show in the great room. But if you look up, you’ll notice an equally impressive and statement-making feature: a stunning cathedral ceiling with white shiplap and dark wood beams.

Dark-stained wood, oak details, and various shades of blue continue throughout the house. A large white oak island with a quartz countertop anchors the kitchen, which features a gorgeous white oak range hood, granite countertops, and a separate refrigerator and freezer with a prep area in between.

Wood details carry the home’s aesthetic into the kitchen, where the island and range hood are both made of beautiful white oak.

For when the homeowners want to entertain the neighborhood with a summer evening cookout, a charming paver courtyard with a water feature will make visitors feel right at home. Plus, a roomy deck and large windows take full advantage of picturesque views of the Royal Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer and Annika Sorenstam-designed championship course.

“The overall basic design is my creation,” Budzynski says about the home. “Going through it, we wanted to create unique areas in every space. I think we did a pretty good job.”
