Around 2014, Heather Strommen started a blog about the restoration of her 1937 Lake Minnetonka home. That project morphed into the Instagram account, @sweetshadylane, where she posts images of her home and interior design inspiration. Though a novice designer, her decorating chops have garnered her features in Star Tribune and Lake Minnetonka Magazine.

Recently while taking photos of a vignette for her Instagram account, she came up with the idea for The Vignette Box, an instant decor ensemble for a side table, mantel, nightstand, or shelf that can be placed in any combination. (It’s also a great hostess gift.) The limited-edition box is filled with treasures inspired by the “Sweet Shady Lane” style—which she describes as “traditional but inviting, nautical but not over-themed, classic and comfortable.”

Each box includes her favorite coffee table book, One Man’s Folly; a one-of-a-kind original painting by local artist, Abbey Holden Studio; a custom bamboo easel “for texture and tone”; a preserved boxwood “for a touch of greenery”; and a handpicked brass antique she collected from antique stores in L.A., New York, Atlanta, Florida, and right here in Minneapolis.

Strommen worked with Minnesota creatives Megan Gonzalez of Mae Mae & Co. and photographer Ashley Sullivan to style the box, which also features a custom toile pattern inspired by Strommen’s home by Holden and a illustrated custom card by local illustrator, Cait Courneya. “I love telling stories through decor, and a sweet vignette is the perfect way to do it,” Strommen says.

Limited quantities of Volume 1 are still available, and new editions will be available seasonally, with a Christmas edition to debut on November 20. It will include a vintage Christmas postcard, framed with Ralph Lauren plaid fabric in a black and brass frame; a brass easel; a preserved mini boxwood wreath to hang or use as a candle holder; a candle; and a felt Santa ornament.

Order Volume 1 of The Vignette Box now at sweetshadylane.com, and subscribe to her email newsletter—subscribers get the first chance to order new editions of the box before it’s available to the public.
