Minnesota Makers: Grant Kaihoi

At the end of a wooded lane outside of Rice, Minnesota sits a woodshop next to the home of Grant Kaihoi. It is here he builds the next generation of heirloom furniture. Woodworking since a child, Kaihoi studied art in college and returned home to raise a family that includes three sons and a daughter who are always up to help dad. Kaihoi’s work is both modern and timeless. He crafts pieces that will be shared for generations. Each piece tells a story of not just the craftsman but the tree itself. In all his projects, Kaihoi lets the wood speak first. In his own words, “My goal is the same: to help you create a better life, with my hands and a tree.”
