Minnesota-based interior designers are now being recognized worldwide. On Jan. 23, The Expert released its first-ever Top 40 list, chosen based on the 20% most booked and reviewed interior design experts in 2023. On that list are local firms Anne McDonald Design and Oho Interiors, with the recognition honoring each of their signature styles and influences on clients locally, nationally, and globally.
Anne McDonald Design first joined The Expert platform early 2023—a goal the designer had worked toward for years prior. Since then, McDonald has completed 76 sessions with clients of varying backgrounds and lifestyles. “There [has] been a learning curve in trying to accommodate what people want to get done in 55 minutes, but whatever I walk into, it’s awesome,” she says. On the platform, the firm attracts clients with its warm, colorful, and soulful design style. “Part of why I like this platform is that people are often at a crossroads, and I can help them make decisions.”

Likewise, Oho Interiors was first approached by The Expert to join the platform in May 2023, with its first client session in June. Known for classic, detailed, and English-inspired design, Oho Interiors brings an architecture-first approach to spaces. Melissa Oholendt, founder and design principal, expresses her shock and delight about the company’s inclusion on the list, stating, “It was an unexpected honor to be asked to be on the platform from the beginning. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected that Oho would have a place among the design elite across the world in this way.”
