“This year, I knew that more than ever, when people’s homes are everything to them, that the right holiday décor would be really important,” says Bria Hammel, founder of Bria Hammel Interiors in Mendota Heights. She was right. When the holiday offerings in her retail line, Brooke & Lou, launched in October, some items immediately sold out.
“When putting the holiday collection together this year,” she explains, “I made sure to include versatile products that can work with a formal design or a casual homey feel, so they can be mixed and matched. It was about products that layer well together organically and feel authentic and special.”
Here’s a peek at some of Hammel’s favorite items in the 2020 Brooke & Lou Holiday Collection.
Scalloped Brass Napkin Ring
“These are so festive and perfect for a formal tablescape—any time of year,” Hammel says. “During the holidays, pair these with our new Cedar Wreath Chargers for a casual, layered table with a nice interplay between textures and elements.” Shop here.
Cedar Wreath Chargers
“They look like a wreath but are thin and meant to layer underneath the dinner plate,” Hammel explains. “They add texture and color to the tablescape, whether for the holidays or even an everyday dinner made special.” Shop here.
Navy Feathered Ornament
Hammel loves adding new items to the collection each year that introduce a unique touch or aesthetic to the holiday tree. “This year, it’s our peacock feather ornament,” she says. “Putting navy on the tree may be unusual, but this ornament has turned out to be a great seller as well as a new piece for us that we love.” Shop here.
Continue the navy theme with the blueberry stems. “It’s fun to do a holiday color scheme that’s different than the usual red, green, and gold,” Hammel says. “When selecting our ornaments, we want to make sure the tree will feel unique. You can place these blueberry stems right into the greenery for a nice touch.” Shop here.
Vintage Hanging Bells
Back by popular demand, “this best seller is a fan favorite,” Hammel says. “They come in various sizes, feel antique, can be styled on a bookshelf or coffee table, or hung in the tree.” Shop here.
“Clients are always asking us about realistic looking greenery they can use season after season,” Hammel says. The Whispy Pine Garland, Cream Crabapple Wreath, and Juniper Berry and Cedar Wreath are items that come in a variety of price points. Hammel, however, singles out the Pine Gerry Garland, “which is just luscious and comes with Blueberry Stems in it, layering classic with unique items that brighten up the season.” Shop here.
