At interior design firm Historic Studio, new management and offerings lead to blissful new beginnings. After 25 years, the Wayzata-based boutique studio and retail store was recently sold to two local businesswomen: Brooke McNatt, an expert in interior design, and Angela Alvig, founder and president of Simplify Wealth, a family CFO and wealth concierge firm.

“With Brooke’s style and Angela’s business acumen, Historic Studio is in good hands,” says former owner, Robb Whittlef, who co-founded the full-service studio alongside his brother, Mike. “Mike and I were thrilled to find an ownership group with big ideas and a deep understanding of our customers and the area we serve.”

Naturally, questions will arise of what will change and remain under new management. “We believe Rob and Mike started something special here, so we want to keep the standard that Historic Studio set,” says McNatt, who, along with Alvig, has a desire to build personal relationships with the clientele. She continues, “We consider a lot of the clients a family of Historic Studio.”

But some change is inevitable. This starts with the addition of home clear-out and concierge services, plus increased attention to the studio’s retail component: “We’re really focusing on the retail more than they probably had in the past,” McNatt explains. “Historic Studio’s design services are unrivaled. We look forward to continuing their amazing work while adding new services and expanding the retail.”
