12 Home Items in Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year, Ultra Violet

Last week, Pantone Color Institute announced its 2018 Color of the Year as Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple the brand says was inspired by musical icons Prince, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix. (In fact, earlier this year Pantone debuted a deep, plum-toned purple in honor of the Purple One, dubbed Love Symbol #2.)

Ultra Violet is described by as a color that “takes our awareness and potential to a higher level,” according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, in a press release. “From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.” The shade also is meant to evoke “the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now” as well as “the vast and limitless night sky.”

In a nod to the announcement, we rounded up some of the most stylish home goods in the royal hue.
