Art in Bloom is Infused with French Flair this Year

Art in Bloom, the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s (Mia) biggest and most florally fabulous fundraiser, is back—and not a moment too soon. Who isn’t desperately craving the colors, textures and scents of flowers right now? As a bonus, this year’s four-day festival from April 26-29 will take on a French flair.

The Preview Party includes the unveiling of the recently acquired Still Life with Dahlias, Zinnias, Hollyhocks and Plums by painter Eugène Delacroix. Flowers After Hours will be infused with joie de vivre as guests follow the fleur couture through the galleries. A Mixology Workshop titled “Art et Boisson” features French-inspired cocktails.

The Fashion Show, once again hosted by the irrepressibly irreverent Grant Whittaker, is followed by a formal luncheon with French cuisine by Deco catering prepared in the spirit of Julia Child. Erick Haskell, knighted not once but twice by the French government, will discuss France’s greatest contribution to garden history during Parterres of Perfection: The French Formal Garden and its Lasting Influence.

Fantastique! This year’s event is sponsored, in part, by Bachman’s and Thymes.

Let’s all take a moment to forget about the snow, and instead get excited for Mia’s annual rite of spring, #ArtinBloom! Join us April 26-29 at Mia for Art in Bloom, when the galleries are filled with over 160 creative floral arrangements on view next to the original artworks that inspired them. This four-day festival is FREE and open to the public. There are also special ticketed events during Art in Bloom including talks, demonstrations, master classes, workshops and more! The four-day festival will also showcase 165 fresh floral arrangements inspired by works of art in Mia’s collection and more than a dozen large-scale installations by Twin Cities florists throughout the museum. Other programming includes master classes in making French garden bouquets and Parisian wreaths, tours, workshops, and the Art in Bloom Shop, located in Cargill Gallery, next to General Mills Lobby.
