The Smile Network’s Inspire: Pop-up: Also at City Center, Minneapolis-based nonprofit Smile Network international is opening a 7,000-square-foot space on the skyway level. Similar to its Inspire: Global Gifts for Urban Adventures gift shop at its Loring Park headquarters, the store will sell a selection of fair-trade goods by female artisans, which is sourced from places such as South Africa, Central and South America, Mexico, and India, plus handmade goods from Minnesota brands and makers, including North Loop wellness center and gift shop Jeromeo, Denise Houser Design women’s apparel, House of Talents‘ fair-trade baskets from Ghana; nature photographer Natasha D’Schommer; Wakami fair-trade jewelry, and Julia Knight Collection‘s colorful decor. Winter Carnival Orchid Show: In conjunction with the Saint Paul Winter Carnival is the Winter Carnival Orchid Show, the largest display of privately owned orchids in the region. Presented by the Orchid Society of Minnesota, the show features hundreds of orchid plants owned by the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory as well as individual and commercial orchid growers, plus displays and plants for sale.
