After a successful run at The Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis and recent appearance at Los Angeles’ LA Art Show, multidisciplinary visual artist Natalia Berglund isn’t finished just yet.
Her next stop is The Hive Salon in Northeast Minneapolis, where her powerful portraiture will adorn the walls through May 31.
Her recent work is bold, powerful, and inspired by Orthodox iconography and fashion photography—connecting the dots between ancient Russian icons, modern ideals of femininity, and contemporary representations of women in the media.
“All the work presented in this show supports the strong, feminine ethos of both the artist and the salon,” Katie Garrett, the salon’s curator, says in a press release.
The Hive Salon isn’t just an eco-friendly hair studio that challenges the norms of traditional salon practices, it’s a haven for art, too. It’s a win-win: Not only can you support Berglund’s latest works, but you can snag a root touch-up, blowout, or color treatment at the same time. Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. @ The Hive Salon, 1621 E. Hennepin Ave., #B20, Minneapolis, thehivesalon.com
