With the highly anticipated 2019 Minnesota State Fair around the corner, we know you’re already figuring out the logistics of how to hit all your must-visit vendors in one day. And though we all have our tried-and-true favorites, it’s worth scoping out all the new ones, too. The fairgrounds will be bursting with 37 new foods (You’ve seen the official list, right?), new attractions, new buildings, and believe it or not, new home décor vendors, too.
From the North End gate to the Warner Coliseum, take a moment to scope out these three state fair first-timers for thoughful gifts, Minnesota-made décor, and more.
GoodThings
Located just inside the North End gate off Hoyt Avenue, GoodThings is one of the first vendors to call the brand-new, $16 million North End Event Center its fair-time home. The boutique retailer’s State Fair shop will feature a fall fashion preview of its collection of clothing and accessories, local goods, exclusive products, and its regular selection of unique gifts and home décor items.
Celebrating its debut, the multi-location, family-owned shop will offer two special promotions for guests who come through: a drawing for a chance to win a $500 GoodThings shopping spree, and if you spend more than $50, you’ll score a free Minnesota Uffda tote bag as a thank-you. shopgoodthings.com
Spiral Light Candles
To find the perfect gift for all the candle lovers in your life, find your way to Spiral Light Candles‘ booth—a candle company whose products take wax and wicks to the next level. These Minnesota-made candles are unique in both function and form and are free of toxins, made with vegetable-based dyes, and created with ultra-refined wax. The cool part? These candles burn twice: First as a spiral, and then as a traditional, wood-wick candle.
With three sizes, 16 unique fragrances (ranging from Balsam & Cedar to Cranberry Mango), and affordable prices, heading south to the lower level of the Grandstand is worth the walk. spirallightcandles.com
The Market At Fox Run
Head even farther south to shop first-timer The Market At Fox Run at the Warner Coliseum, selling heirloom-quality work, vintage wares, and eco-friendly products by 13 talented local artisans. The market’s current lineup of makers includes 8th Avenue Market, Aspire Signs, Everart, Found Home Farm, Hackberry, Socially Handcrafted (who often makes monthly appearances in our DIY calendars), Spicy Nacho, and more.
When they’re not at the fair, you can catch this Corcoran-based company adventuring around its mobile home décor truck—the first of its kind in Minnesota. foxrunmobilemarketplace.com
