This fully custom new build in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, was particularly extraordinary for Ashton Harrell, founder of West Luxe Design + Build Firm, for one reason: She doubled as the client.
Responsible for everything from initial blueprints and interior/exterior design to project management and interior furnishings, Harrell had a clear plan but not a set location. When this nearly 6,000-square-foot property landed in her lap, “I knew I couldn’t pass it up,” she says. “The lot was ideal for the house we wanted to build. [It had] challenging natural topography and grade change for a walkout basement.”
Aesthetically, the goal for her dream house was to embody the idea of “lake home meets modern,” which is partially achieved through Duchateau light wood flooring and a plethora of Lincoln Windows—allowing for both abundant natural light and views of surrounding foliage. This is complemented by the modern aesthetic of the gourmet kitchen, filled with Ferguson appliances, Cambria countertops, and Crystal Cabinetry.
The chic, neutral exterior incorporates white with black accents on the roof and windowsills, while warm wood siding maintains the traditional lakeside feel. The stunning home also offers an in-home gym, sauna, recreation room on the lower level to boost activity and relaxation, and an accordion door that walks out to the lakeside patio—just what Harrell needs to entertain family and friends or simply enjoy the wildlife.
