In gearing up for the 2015 Midwest Home Luxury Home Tour—starting the first weekend in June—we’ll be talking to some of the builders on this year’s tour. This week, we’re featuring Stonewood LLC, home #5 on the tour.
In part two of our four-part series, Stonewood LLC describes how they worked with the client, creating a perfect floor plan for their wish list:
The homeowner came to us after purchasing the lot and presented us with their wish list. They told us their story and described their dream home with words and images. Our charge was to get into their heads, understand their lifestyle, and design a home that best suited their needs. We guided them toward finishes and materials that aligned with their architectural preferences, while being careful to understand their vision, goals, and priorities. We gave them confidence in the decisions they made, and treated their home as if it was our own.
- Due to a unique lot size, we customized the home to the lot. The home touches all four setback lines.
- A main floor design was emphasized. In this case, the homeowners wanted to focus on one-level living so the master bedroom, laundry/sewing room, kitchen, dining area, four-season porch, powder room, and great room were all discussed during the initial meetings.
- We met with both the architect and clients several times to discuss the plan, room-by-room, floor-by-floor, until the homeowners agreed on final placement and design.
