There’s nothing more Minnesotan than loving life on the lake. For those lucky enough to live on one, designing a home that allows them to take full advantage of all that the lake has to offer is often a top priority. The 2018 Homes by Architects Tour draws back the curtain on the latest in lakefront design.
Home 2 is a converted two-story that is now a four-level masterpiece on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. To take full advantage of the lakefront on a small site, the home emphasizes horizontal rather than vertical massing and is focused on spaces to play! A bowling alley, a theater lounge, a sauna and outdoor pool, decks, and an outdoor bar allow the owners to make life in this Mound retreat fun year-round.
Home 14 is an urban lakefront oasis on Lake Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun). Modern and simple, the design blends seamlessly into the neighborhood and allows the family to work, play, and take full advantage of its urban setting. The home includes a pool and get-away rooms for the family members, and seamlessly blends outdoor and indoor spaces.
