As the builders, interior designers, and landscapers scurry to make all shipshape for the kick-off of the 2017 Luxury Home Tour at noon on Friday, June 2, I’ve been previewing the homes with art director Mandy Finders. Whether you’re looking to build, remodel, or simply dream, you’ll find plenty of inspiration on this year’s Luxury Home Tour.
Nine million-dollar-plus homes across the Twin Cities, built by some of the best custom builders in the market, will be ready for touring the first three weekends in June (June 2-4, 9-11 & 16-18). In all these homes, the kitchens are outstanding, the master suites luxurious, the great rooms spacious, and the lower levels built for entertaining. Along with sumptuous, livable spaces, however, you also get outstanding details.
A few that caught my eye:
These vintage milk-glass lights hang in the two-story open staircase of the Aspect Design Build home in Deephaven (#1 on the tour). Another Instagram-worthy feature in this unique house: The wine and bourbon-tasting room in the lower level that boasts a pair of gorgeous, salvaged copper doors.
At Landmark Custom Homes’ European-style house in Edina (#2 on the tour), we found Carter Averbeck of Omforme putting the finishing touches on the dining room’s custom painted ceiling. This house features several of Averbeck’s murals and decorative finishes, as well as a custom-carved wrought-iron staircase and an Edina Hornets-themed indoor sport court.
Across town at Custom One Homes’ Woodbury house, #7 on the tour, the shower in the master suite shows off exquisite tiling details before the glass surround goes in.
Tucked back into a stand of white pines is #8 on the tour. This home, built by Divine Custom Homes, is the embodiment of a rustic weekend getaway—but it’s in West Lakeland (between Lake Elmo and Hudson) not the far reaches of northern Minnesota. The vaulted great room with its towering hand-hewn timber trusses is impressive as is the kitchen’s custom-finished hood.
