Zillow “Lists” The Incredibles Midcentury Modern Digs

The home that stars in The Incredibles 2 gets lots of love from design fans

Superheroes need a super home, right? As in a fantastic midcentury-modern dream home overlooking a fictitious city with loads of features, from floor-to-ceiling windows and a sunken conversation pit to a massive stone fireplace, waterfalls, and floors that open—with a touch of a remote—to pools underneath? (Think The Party, the wacky 1968 cult film with Peter Sellers in which retractable floors with, yes, pools underneath become bubble baths and an elephant spa.)

Well, feast your eyes on the Parrs’ swanky digs, now featured in the film The Incredibles 2. As The New York Times recently wrote, “In the first movie [The Incredibles], the Parrs were undercover, living a covert life in an unassuming suburban house. In the sequel, a tech tycoon brings them out of hiding and wants to make them revered, open superheroes again. He puts them up in a chic, midcentury-modern mansion with waterfalls everywhere.”

Check out the before and after pics. “The new home is supposed to be a whopping 20,000 square feet. It’s still 1960s-style, but moved forward with fun bits of technology, like floors that move to reveal streams running through the living room,” the Times wrote.

Zillow is totally in on the obsession for all things modern and has “listed” the home on 1444 Incredible Way in Municiberg, even though it’s “off market.” In addition to gorgeous pictures of the fantastical house, there’s a spoiler-filled guide to moving featuring the family—otherwise known as Elastigirl (Helen Parr), Mr. Incredible (Bob Parr) and their kids Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack.

“The team behind Incredibles 2 was inspired by architects like Frank Lloyd Wright and midcentury-modern homes and buildings they visited while on a trip to Palm Springs,” says the Disney site. “The nearly 20,000-square-foot mansion boasts four beds and four baths, floor-to-ceiling windows, indoor rock formations, and a bright yellow kitchen perfectly fit for this family of five.”

Try not to drool over the gorgeous kitchen with aqua fridge and kitchen island with built-in range and rocket-style stools adjacent to a TV room with sleek wood built-ins. Or the redwood open-tread staircase leading to the master bedroom with, yes, more magnificent built-ins. The house is a far cry from the dark, derelict digs of the likes of superheroes Jessica Jones or Luke Cage. But they’re played by actors (not cartoon characters voiced-by actors) and are part of the Marvel Universe. So there.
