Water Street, a popular shopping district in the small city of Excelsior, boasts and booms sophisticated and eclectic shops every interior home designer (professional or not) will love. Really—you don’t have to look (or walk) far. Just inside the 300 block of Water Street, there are four local shops with the latest home essentials and inspiration. Yes, that means you need to log off Pinterest… yesterday.

GRAY Home + Lifestyle

Though moving into a new and improved retail space down the block this fall, GRAY Home + Lifestyle won’t be able to shake the Water Street customers that adore their products. The owners of GRAY, a mother-daughter dynamic duo, aim to present the very best curated collection of home, lifestyle, and apothecary products to create a classic and minimalistic aesthetic in the homes of their clients. From clean white pottery, vases, baskets, and stoneware to prints, art, textiles, and linens, there’s something for every design junkie behind the doors of GRAY.

Ace General Store

Dan and Alex Cordell, the owners of Minneapolis-based Solid Manufacturing Co., expanded their company in November 2017 and opened Ace General Store—a men’s retail and home goods shop that occupies the old carriage house on Water Street. With a selection of artisan-made goods and hand-picked vintage finds, Ace will provide a local look and at-home feel to your new space.

Golden Rule Collective

Let your home become the art-filled stunner you always dreamed of. Nestled right behind Ace, you’ll find Golden Rule, an art gallery and gift shop with vintage furniture, framed artwork, and original prints. The goods that fall within their narrow aesthetic tumble over to the more spendy side of Water Street, but considering the unique flair and one-of-a-kind looks inside, it’ll be worth every pretty penny.

The Sitting Room

If you still haven’t been able to find what you’re looking for (though I doubt that’s the case), it’s a safe bet something at The Sitting Room will catch your eye. Always changing and ever-evolving, this design studio and retail boutique has everything you could imagine on hand: dining tables, buffets, bookcases, throws, lanterns, florals, chandeliers, textiles, art, and more (with new products coming in around the clock!).
