With an abundance of gardens to explore, the perfectly arranged flowers and manicured trees and shrubs at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum are a sight to see any time of year. Add in origami sculptures by Santa Fe artists Kevin and Jennifer Box, and the grounds become a wonderland of imagination.

Origami in the Garden,” the arboretum’s latest exhibit, pays homage to the ancient Japanese art of origami by transforming the 3D paper foldings into life-sized recreations of wildlife and whimsical rock-paper-scissors configurations.

Searching for the 40 bronze, aluminum, and steel pieces scattered throughout the gardens soon becomes a hunt to uncover the animals in what feels like their natural habitat. From cranes to bison to horses, the sculptures give off a wise, almost sacred tone that honors the beauty of nature and makes each space feel purposeful.

An additional 24 pieces, including wall hangings, paper models, and maquettes, can be found indoors in the Reedy Gallery. The exhibit unfolds through the seasons, spanning late April to late October, and providing opportunities to see the sculptures in new ways with the changing foliage of the spring, summer, and fall.

GIVEAWAY: Midwest Home is excited to partner with the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum to give readers the chance to win a pair of VIP passes to the arboretum to experience “Origami in the Garden” in person. CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.
