Luxury Living Design Trends at the Homes by Architects Tour

AIA Homes by Architects Tour Home 5, designed by Modern Oasis

You don’t need to live a life of luxury in order to be interested in how people are designing for those extra comforts in their homes. Some of the projects on this year’s tour will satisfy that itch while showcasing some new trends in luxury finishes and architectural details that add luxurious flair to a home.

It is possible to design for luxury, even when the property poses significant design challenges. Several homes on the 2017 Homes by Architects tour took advantage of unique land features and brought owners’ luxurious and functional visions to life.

Charles Stinson Architecture + Design designed House #2, the “Tree House,” to take advantage of a steep hillside lot, allowing the upstairs to soar in the natural setting and the downstairs and covered patio to remain grounded and functional in the Scandinavian tradition.

The architect owners of House #3 worked with Peterssen/Keller Architecture to take full advantage of a narrow lakefront lot to incorporate great design elements that showcase the owners’ art collections and enhance their ability to entertain.

House #5 used continuous, pure and simple forms to give the owners a flexible lakefront space for their large family and network of friends to come together. Designed by Modern Oasis, different spaces can adapt to the changing needs of the family.

Don’t miss these and the other 14 amazing projects on the 2017 tour. Homes are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17, 2017. Tickets will be available for purchase here after August 3.
