The Minnesota State Fair is over, and the back-to-school rush is behind us. If you’re wondering what to do this weekend, I have a suggestion: the once-every-two-years chance to peek into the elaborate mansions of Summit Avenue.
The Summit Hill House Tour is a self-guided tour of preserved Victorian lovelies along St. Paul’s most notable avenue. See how the city’s mover and shakers lived in the 19th century, and meet some of the residents who have preserved these historic homes. This year’s tour of 10 private homes is Sunday, September 11, from noon to 6 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Summit Hill Association; $35 tickets available here.
