Summer Arrives with Minneapolis-St. Paul Garden Tours Galore

Calling all gardeners—from amateur to avid—to the season’s garden tours throughout the metro area. Get inspiration and a seasonal nature fix at these garden tour stops.

  • Prospect Park Garden Walk and Plant Sale

    Prospect Park is brimming with unique homes and gorgeous landscapes, so the 2017 Garden Walk and Plant Sale will without a doubt be easy on the eyes. On June 24, walk along East River Parkway and East River Terrace for views of beautiful gardens throughout the neighborhood. The plant sale is in the Saint Frances Cabrini Church parking lot, which is accessible by foot. View perennials, annuals, and exceptional backyard landscapes including waterfalls and fairy gardens.

  • St. Anthony Park Garden Tour

    On June 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., check out 10 beautifully manicured gardens in St. Paul’s St. Anthony Park neighborhood. Gardens are both breathtaking and rule-breaking at various locations with steep inclines to shady valleys that include native plants, rain gardens, fairy gardens, and edible landscapes. Tickets: $12 in advance online or $15 on the day of the tour at St. Anthony Park Library.

  • Learning Garden Tour

    Join the Extension Master Gardener Program on July 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Hennepin County’s 10th annual Learning Garden Tour. This tour focuses on eight gardens in southwest Minneapolis and, to celebrate its anniversary, will include food trucks at some of the stops, a drawing to win a one-hour Master Gardener consultation, and several hands-on demos. Tickets: $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the tour; children under 12 free. (Discounts are offered for large groups—10 tickets are $125 and $20 tickets are $250.)

  • Auxiliary Summer Garden Tours

    Check out the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s 33rd annual Auxiliary Private Garden Tours July 16, 18, and 19. Traveling by motor coaches, guests can take in the beautiful green spaces throughout the day. and enjoy a brunch or lunch buffet served on the Morgan Terrace outside of the Snyder Building. Tour includes four gardens visits, featuring water features, a rock garden, a variety of trees and flowers, herbs, and several fruits and vegetables. Tickets: Purchase online for $65 for July 16, and $55 for July 18 and 19.

  • Tangletown Art and Garden Tour

    On July 22, you can embark on a self-guided tour of local gardens, art, and galleries (with refreshments), courtesy of Tangletown Gardens and Wise Acre Eatery. Gaze at some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Twin Cities, while you support local artists and gardeners. All proceeds from the tour help fund public art, charities, scholarships, and garden projects throughout the Twin Cities. Tickets: 25 in advance online, or $30 on the day of the tour.

  • Minnesota Water Garden Society Water Garden Tour

    On July 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., join the Minnesota Water Garden Society for a tour of 11 diverse water gardens. From ponds to waterfalls to streams surrounded by stunning gardens and landscapes, this tour showcases one-of-a-kind yards. Tickets: $15 in advance and $20 the days of the tour. If 11 gardens is too much for one day, tickets for a single site can be purchased for $5.
