Soft Surroundings is coming to Galleria this Novemberby Jahna Peloquin (image courtesy Soft Surroundings) Last summer, Galleria announced a major expansion of nearly 20,000 square feet of additional retail space that would include as many as a dozen new stores on its northeast end. Today, the high-end Edina shopping center has announced four new tenants, including two retailers selling home goods. Soft Surroundings is a St. Louis, Mo.-based soft goods line that got its start as a mail-order catalog retailer known for its luxurious, ultra-soft fabrics. Its bedding and home collection has a modern-antique vibe, with embroidered trim, ornate mirrors, fleur-de-lis motifs, and tufted chairs. Its new 4,043-square-foot store, opening this November, will feature its entire product selection, which also includes women’s apparel, globally-inspired accessories, and an array of high-quality beauty products, fragrances, candles, and diffusers.Galleria also announced a new, permanent location for locally owned contemporary women’s boutique Roe Wolfe, which also carries a selection and gifts and apothecary products. After a successful run at Galleria in a temporary location, Roe Wolfe will open in the expanded area of the shopping center at the end of 2017.
The news comes a couple months after the announcement of an 18,000-square-foot Design Within Reach store, slated to open in September. The modern furniture retailer, which closed its Uptown location in late 2013, will feature 40 room vignettes, lighting designed by Light Studio LA, and “Minnesota House,” a series of rooms designed to evoke a luxury lake house that were developed in consultation with NewStudio Architecture of White Bear Lake. DWR is known for selling name-brand modern furniture lines Charles and Ray Eames, Norm Architects, Herman Miller, Knoll, Cassina, and Vitra.
Roe Wolfe is still open in its temporary location now through the time it moves into its permanent location, at 3565 Galleria.
