Hot Trends from the 2017 National Kitchen and Bath Show

Tile: Jeffrey Court Glams Midcentury Modern

I found this beautiful tile in the Jeffrey Court booth at the National Kitchen and Bath Show (KBIS) in January. Adding a glistening wall of black-and-white, gloss-and-matte mosaic tile is a great way to modernize a room full of wood. Classic black-and-white color schemes continue to be one of the most popular on social media platforms, and these penny rounds manage a vintage and midcentury feel all in one visual element. Use a gray grout to pull the whole look together.

Cabinet Hardware: Amerock’s Hefty Golden Hardware

With just the perfect blend of antique and modern, Amerock Grace Revitalize hardware is right on trend. What I love about this particular hardware is the finish. It’s not too brushed or too glaring, and it works on both wood and high-gloss laminate. I saw a lot of gold at the show but the scale of this hardware is the perfect size for any door, used vertically or horizontally, singly or in tandem.

Patio Door: Andersen Windows and Doors

The smaller sash profile of this new door is going to take contemporary design by storm. We’ve been waiting for this one: a low profile with a modern metal.

The fact that it’s hands-free is even more convenient for carrying food, drink, and anything else out to the deck. I watched the door open and close with ease, and the sensor knew when I’d walk through and could be programmed to close again.

The door is available in sizes up to 25-feet wide and 10-feet tall, and comes in clad-wood or aluminum-panel construction. There are four different sill options—one for every style of home

Colors: Caesarstone warms up home with new colors and patterns

Lots of companies, including Caesarstone, are introducing taupe/gray color options for the coming year. The colors are still gray but with a warmer undertone so it’s just a slight move away from the black, white, and gray theme we’ve seen in recent years. Georgian Bluffs (6134) is a great way to warm up a white kitchen, brighten a dark bath, or mix with midcentury modern for an entryway. Adding some of these subtle patterns also complements the look of the oh-so-popular white islands.

Storage Solutions: Masterbrand’s Diamond Cabinets

What’s the most underutilized cabinet in the kitchen? Most likely it’s that hard-to-reach area above your refrigerator or some of those extra-deep cabinets in your pantry area. Masterbrand’s Diamond designed these easy pullouts to conveniently store and access appliances or food. They just glide out and the rails keep everything in place. What a great storage idea!
