Inspirational Remodeling Updates: Novare Renovation & Design

Novare Renovation Design Kitchen Before

The 80s not only brought us the first American space shuttle, mobile phones, and personal computers, but also plain kitchens with uniform cabinetry, white Formica countertops, and a pastel color palette. The 80s kitchen in this Lake Elmo home was guilty of all of the above, in addition to having a choppy, inefficient layout. It was in need of a makeover that would bring it into the 21st century.

Suzanne Pottinger, co-owner and spatial designer of Novare Renovation and Design, happily accepted the challenge.

The first thing to go was the center wall, a necessary move in order to alter—and open—the space. The end result is a spacious and sophisticated kitchen that is as functional and comfortable as it is beautiful, complete with a floating shelf above the center island. The shelf adds architectural interest while supporting two of the four unique mason jar pendant lights. Traffic now flows seamlessly from the updated kitchen into the adjacent dining and living rooms, allowing the whole family to enjoy the space together.
