Inspirational Remodeling Updates: Schrader & Companies

When you live on the shore of Lake Minnetonka’s Gray’s Bay, the views are part of the experience. The layout of this home, located in Wayzata, didn’t monopolize on the views, nor did it make the most efficient use of the space, with walls and doors around every corner.

The homeowners selected Andy Schrader with Schrader & Companies to renovate their existing home, piecing together their dream home room by room. He listened, then presented detailed plans and design ideas that respected their style and vision. Rather than a bottom line estimate, he gave the couple a punch-list of every material that would be used.

The formerly claustrophobic floor plan was altered by opening the space between the living room and kitchen/dining area, and details such as creative millwork and craftsmanship and colorful finishes on the walls, surfaces, and fireplaces created the bright, airy, and modern interior the homeowners wanted—without adding square footage.

When working with Schrader & Companies, every detail of the process is scrutinized and carefully planned so that you’re getting the “most bang for your buck” in terms of design, craftsmanship, and methods of construction. Many homes built before 1960 were constructed with wire mesh, plaster, and slats rather than sheet rock—and if you’re removing the slats as part of an interior remodel, it’s the perfect time to upgrade your home to a modern level of insulation technology.

“Your home should be beautiful and functional after remodeling, with properly insulated walls, new windows, and securing the structure to protect your investment,” Andy says.

The finished project surpassed the homeowners’ expectations.

“Now, when you walk through the home, you get a breathtaking view of the lake from every room,” Andy says. “You would never know you’re in a house built in the 1960s.”
