Free Kitchen Talk Events Kick Off ASID Designer Kitchen Tour April 5, 14

We spend a lot of time in our kitchens. I mean, A LOT of time. During the holidays, it’s where people naturally congregate. Who am I kidding? It’s where people naturally congregate during ANY get-together. It’s where we prepare and share meals, and if we don’t like our kitchen—or it isn’t quite right for us—we don’t enjoy it the way we could (and should!)

But when everyone has such different interests, lifestyles, and personal preferences, how do we determine what style, what layout, what size kitchen will positively affect the way we live?

Midwest Home magazine is joining forces with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Designer Kitchen Tour to help consumers answer that question during complimentary panel discussions on Tuesday, April 5, and Thursday, April 14—an excellent way to kick off the ASID Designer Kitchen Tour April 16 and 17.

On Tuesday, April 5, talented local designers will share ideas on “Designing a Timeless Kitchen” at the Rubble Tile showroom in Minneapolis. Guests can mingle from 5-6 p.m.; the discussion will begin at 6 p.m. The panelists—creative local design professionals—include Catherine Harrington of Catherine Harrington Designs, Dan Juedes of Filament Lighting, and Donna Tasto of Rubble Tile, with Midwest Home editor Chris Lee moderating. After discussing why certain design elements are timeless, the panelists will take questions from the audience.

On Thursday, April 14, panelists will discuss “Trends for your kitchen that match your lifestyle” from 5-7 p.m. at Warners’ Stellian in Edina. Talented area designers will share how different lifestyles affect how our kitchen should come together, and include Rena Feldman of In Unison Design, discussing the gourmet cook; Jayme Meyer of Martha O’Hara Interiors discussing the homeowner who likes to entertain; Sheree Vincent of Fusion Designed talking about sustainable living; Kimberly Herrick of Herrick Design Group discussing the active family lifestyle; and Angela Warner of Warners’ Stellian sharing information about appliances that fit each of these lifestyles. The panel will showcase three to four robust trends and also answer questions from the audience.

To RSVP to either of these complimentary events, send an email to events@mhmag.com. *RSVPs to the April 5 event must be received no later than April 4. RSVPs to the April 14 event must be received by April 11. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy light bites and beverages at both of these kitchen talk events.
